Hello & thank you for your interest in my work. I must have always known I was an artist, but I was never successful with any medium until I discovered beading in 1991. I am mostly self-taught. It is only recently through the encouragement of friends that I have begun to explore other areas of fiber art, and polymer clay.
I view my beadwork as a vehicle for the exploration of my subconscious and my spirituality . Beadwork is very tactile, and pictures only begin to convey the wonderful energy that is present. A beaded doll sits with such pleasing weight in one's hand. The movement of fringe is delightful, and the play of light over the nubby-textured surface enchants the eyes and entices the fingers.
I draw my inspiration from the writings of Clarissa P. Estes, Joseph Campbell, Robert Holdstock, and Sheri S. Tepper, to name but a few, and from the music of Maddy Prior and Dead Can Dance, as well as the world around me & the world within.
When I am not beading, I enjoy reading & writing, hiking & canoeing, and spending time with my wonderfully supportive husband Jim and our four beautiful children.
